Routine Reports

Overview

This article exists to teach how routine reports work in Friday and how you can use them.

Routine reports help you quantify progress and keep stakeholders engaged without dragging them into status update meetings. Friday automatically compiles a shareable report so you can see progress and identify trends over time.

Quick Start

If you'd like to see how reports work, take a look at the video below. Luke (founder of Friday.app) will show you how we use reporting internally to understand what's going on at work (and if things are trending in the right direction).

Report Types

Friday offers two flavors of reports for routines. We've listed them below:

  • Batch: see a report for a specific snapshot in time (daily, weekly, etc), grouped by question.
  • Trends: see responses aggregated over time. Easily identify trends.

You can learn more about each type in the sections below:

Batch reporting

Batch reports allow you to see results at a given moment in time and are available for free accounts. For example, if you run a daily standup in Friday, we will automatically group responses by the day. For a weekly update, we will aggregate responses by week.

You can see an example batch report below:

The batch report consists of the following sections:

  • Completion Rate: see what percentage of people responded to an update in a given period of time. You can also easily remind people who haven't responded yet.
  • Segmentation: filter responses by team. For example, if you run a department or organizational-wide routine, you can segment results by team.
  • Export: easily export the responses into a CSV
  • Responses (grouped by question): Friday will automatically rollup responses based on the question. For questions that can be aggregated (like the numeric question type), Friday will automatically calculate the average score.

Trends

The trends report is only available for paid customers and allows you to see responses over multiple "batches." Think of the trends view as a 10,000 foot view into responses over a longer period of time. You can see how this looks below:

The trends report consists of the following sections:

  • Engagement Rate: what percentage of people respond over time? This helps you understand how effective the routine is.
  • Segmentation: filter responses by team. For example, if you run a department or organizational-wide routine, you can segment results by team.
  • Grouping: see aggregate stats for the month or another time period
  • Export: easily export the trended data into a CSV
  • Trended responses: for questions that can be aggregated (like a 1-10 scale), Friday will automatically compile trends over time. In the example above, you can see how the Friday team answered the question, "How productive were you this week?"
