Creating Goals

Overview

By the end of this article, you will be able to create and configure goals on Friday.

Make sure you are working on the right things. Goals shouldn't collect dust in a spreadsheet. Map your work to purpose, improve transparency across teams, and easily share progress on a regular basis. Let's begin building out a goal on Friday.

Creating a new Goal

  1. Begin in the "Goals" page
  2. If this is your first goal then you will select "Create Your First Goal" in the middle of the screen. If this is goal 2, 3, 4... then select "New Goal" in the upper right corner of the screen.
  3. In the pop-up, name your goal, give the goal an owner (this can be you or someone else on your team), and add collaborators, then select "Create Goal"

Configure Goals

Once your goal is created you can create a start and due date, add additional collaborators, add metrics, create sub-goals.

  1. Click on the "Goals" page
  2. Select the goal you wish to configure
  3. Configure the goal as necessary from the steps below

Start/Due Date

  1. On the right side of the screen select "Add Due Date"
  2. If you are setting a goal for work that will begin in the future, add a start date to your goal (if no start date is added the goal will start immediately). Add a due date for the intended completion of the goal.
  3. Select Save

Add Collaborators

  1. On the right side of the screen select "Add Collaborators"
  2. At the bottom of the pop-up add the name of the collaborator
  3. Select Save

Add Metrics

  1. In the center of the screen of the goal you have selected, you will find the option to add metrics
  2. Select the format (number, percentage, or money)
  3. Assign the initial and target goal
  4. Select Save

Create Sub-goals

  1. In the center of the screen select "Add a sub-goal"
  2. Add the Name, Owner, and Collaborators
  3. Select Save
  4. This sub-goal can be configured in the same way as a Goal can
